About Us
Paul King who recently completed a three and a half year sentence has, with the assistance of a number of colleagues, written the GTP Essential Guide. During the last eleven months of his sentence Paul ran the induction programme at HMP Standford Hill. Induction is the process designed to inform inmates about prison life, gain the maximum benefit from their time in custody, and become familiar with the regime, their responsibilities and privileges. It is also designed to prepare people for their ultimate return to the community.
Paul who holds a Bachelor of Science degree, has been an artist manager and concert promoter for more than 25 years. Paul still holds the record for the longest run of consecutive shows at Wembley Arena - 14 nights with Dire Straits, the first of those concerts being in the presence of The Prince and Princess of Wales, in aid of The Prince's Trust. He was the first promoter to stage an open-air concert at Scotland's National Stadium, Hampden Park. The show featured Genesis and was attended by the Princess Royal in her capacity as President of The Save the Children Fund.
To date, the largest concert organised by Paul was the Silver Clef Knebworth concert, which featured Pink Floyd, Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John, Sir Cliff Richard, Genesis, Dire Straits, Eric Clapton, Status Quo and Tears for Fears. The event was attended by 120,000 people and has since been broadcast globally on both radio and television, helping to raise in excess of £6 million for the Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy Charity.
Artists managed by Paul have sold over 32 million records under his direction.
His experience with artists was invaluable when dealing with all types of inmates at HMP Standford Hill, and he was also able to build extensive rapport with the prison staff. His inside knowledge of the prison system is comprehensive and The GTP Essential Guide covers every aspect of going to prison and serving a sentence with the least discomfort.
